Deep End School Outreach

Evangelism is an important part of the Deep End School. A few weeks into the school we commence our outreach program. This involves students serving in our soup kitchen ministry, in distributing bread each week to needy families and by serving chai tea in the park on Friday nights. We love Treasure Hunts where we learn to receive words of knowledge from God, detailing information about people in the community that God wants to bless and heal, and then we follow our treasure maps and inevitably find many people who are delighted to encounter the love of Christ! We also hit the streets armed with a mat and cushions and offer free healing prayer for willing bystanders, and offer free poetry and art as a means to prophesy into people’s lives and release blessing. All of these activities bring students into contact with lots of New Age Postmodern seekers, providing plenty of opportunity to put into practice all that the students learn during the school. As part of this program we have regular outreach de-briefs where we get to dialogue about gnarly situations and difficult issues that arise in communicating with Postmodernists. All of this provides additional learning opportunities. The majority of outreach that we do as a school adopts a hands-on ‘learn as you go’ approach.

As part of the course, students may participate in one or more of our Christocentric Light events, where we travel to a number of ‘Mind Body Spirit Festivals’ around Australia. These are the premier New Age events in Australia. Each year we rent a booth and take a team into the festival where we conduct physical healing, prayer for spiritual encounters, dream interpretation, and spiritual blessings for New Age seekers. This is an awesome outreach opportunity that is a collaborative effort with other churches from around Australia. We provide all of our students with dream interpretation training as part of the Deep End School and we also involve our students in the ‘Byron Bay Healing Room’ where they will gain experience in praying for the sick. Participation in the ‘dream team’ is not a compulsory requirement for graduation from the school. Those students who are uncomfortable or unsure about conducting dream interpretation are able to be part of the intercessory prayer support team.

Deep End School Practical Training

Our school has a strong emphasis on the practical application of everything we because we require our students to be involved in an array of activities We see God’s hand shape students hearts, infusing them with joy as we hit the streets and serve the church and the wider committed to training Kingdom warriors who are on fire for the God! This means much more than simply listening to lectures. The here are worked out in a practical way as we burn for God in the pray for the sick, feed the poor and interact with the lost. As a church we are involved in an array of kingdom ventures that we ask students of. These areas include:

Prayer and Intercession

Intercession: A time of pressing in with worship and prayer for breakthrough in the church, community and the nation.
Time Required: 2 meetings per week, one being Sunday Prayer (if not rostered on to Set up)

Prayer Walks: This involves praying through the surrounding streets and townships of the region. We ask for visions, pictures and keys to pray into breakthrough for the region.
Time Required: 10 over the course of the school.

Burn: Inspired by the “Burn 24/7” movement founded by Sean Feucht, Burn is an awesome event where once a month we pray for 24 hours straight through the night.
Time Required: Once a month for 24 hours straight

Compassion Ministries

Soup kitchen: Tuesdays we prepare a free meal to go out into the park and serve to the homeless, travellers or anyone in the community to connect with and love upon them.
Time Required:
Approximately 7 per school

Bread Run: This involves picking up bread donated from a local bakery to give to families and people in the community who may be struggling financially as means to bless them.
Time Required:
Bread Pick Ups: Approximately 9 per school Bread Deliveries: Approximately 5 per school

Love Feasts:
This is a night to lavish upon the homeless and people struggling. We organise a Banquet, music & festivities and release the joy and extravagance of heaven upon them.
Time Required:
We run at least 2 a school

Servant Projects: This is a project aimed to bless families in the community that need a helping hand around their property or house. This involves tasks like; gardening, cleaning, fixing things or basic handyman
work.
Time Required:
Approximately 7 per school

Cottage Helps: As part of student service students help at our cottage throughout the year. Cottage Cleans: Approximately 7 per school

Cottage Admin: Approx 2hrs per week, or as needed – students are to attend and help out events, conferences, mail-outs etc

Evangelism

Treasure Hunts: A Treasure Hunt is prophetic Evangelism at it’s best. We gather together and ask God for words of knowledge about a place, person, or their appearance etc. Then we team up to go and find the “treasure”, which is the person God highlights, and bring them into an encounter with Jesus.
Time Required: 1 per week

Healing Rooms: Each Thursday we run “Byron Bay Healing Rooms”. Healing Rooms is part of a worldwide initiative to minister to people with the healing power of God. It is set up much like a doctor’s office where people go into a room with a ministry team to receive healing.
Time Required: On an interest and roster basis (training required)

Chai Tea Nights: Chai nights is one of our favourite outreaches. It is a chance to get out and have a fun night of engaging with people on the streets with drumming, fire twirling, free healing and giving out free Chai tea.
Time Required: 1 per fortnight

Healing Mats on the Streets:We find a sunny spot in the parks around Byron, put out a mat with cushions and a sign advertising ‘Free healing/ A free poem/ Art for you’. People get radically blessed with healing and the prophetic as we do this.
Time Required: Approximately 5 per school

Mind Body Spirit Festivals: We attend four different festivals throughout the year; two Sydney Festivals, one Melbourne and one Brisbane. Here we offer four modalities, free prayer for physical healing, supernatural blessings, spiritual encounters and dream interpretation. Every festival we see hundreds of people touched by the power of God, and astonished by healing miracles. This outreach is subject to application and selection.
Time Required: On an application basis, we attend 4 per school

Graduation Requirements

The Deep End School is a non-accredited school. We award all students who complete the course with a ‘Graduation Certificate of Completion.’ However, this certificate is not a formal qualification. It is merely an acknowledgement of the completion of the program. It does however mean that graduating students have completed a first rate ministry training program which would be respected in many Christian circles. In order to graduate from the Deep End School students must complete the following:

1. Full attendance of all lectures. If lectures are missed students will be required to listen to those lectures on CD and to submit evidence that they have completed and absorbed the course material.
2. Full participation in the Deep End outreach program. This includes participation in all regular weekly outreach activities, healing room ministry, occasional special outreaches and/ or attendance to one or more of the Mind Body Spirit Festivals.
3.    Completion of all written assignments. This consists of six assignments and weekly personal reflection sheets. None of our written assignments are graded so there is no pass or fail.
Students who complete all aspects of the course will be awarded their Graduation Certificate at our graduation night which is held at a local conference room/restaurant facility on the Friday evening of the last week of lectures. We encourage graduating students to consider staying around in Byron Bay over the summer to continue outreach to the local community but this is not considered part of the course.
4. Full payment of tuition fees.

Pastoral Care

Due to the nature of certain subjects in the course material previous students have found that many personal issues in their lives often get stirred to the surface. We encourage students to pursue personal healing in their hearts whenever the Holy Spirit causes these issues to arise. The staff of the school will offer some prayer ministry and pastoral care to all students during these times. As students will be a part of New Earth Tribe for the duration of the school there will be an expectation upon students to actively participate in the home based Small Groups where they will receive most of their pastoral care and be encouraged to build relationship with their small group leader.

We encourage all students to receive the Kingdom ministry of Jesus as part of their own preparation for ministry. Jesus said, “Freely you have received, freely give.” We cannot give away what we haven’t received, so learning how to posture ourselves to receive the ministry of Christ into our hearts is a vital part of our own preparation for ministry. Jesus only released the disciples to minister after they had learnt how to be ministered to by the Lord. If they couldn’t receive His ministry they disqualified themselves from ministering to others in His name. We must first allow Jesus to remove the log from our own eye so that we can see clearly to help others to remove the speck from their eye.

Deep End School of the Supernatural Fee Schedule 2011

Tuiton: The  tuiton  component  of  the  Deep  End  School  for  2011  will  be  $3300  (Inc  $300  GST).
Payment Schedule: We   are   offering   a   5%   discount   ($165)   for   full   payment   of   tuition   fees   prior   to   the   commencement  of  the  school  ($3135.00  payable  on  or  before  Monday  February  28th,  2011).

All  students  are  required  to  make  a  first  instalment  of  $1,300  prior  to  the  commencement  date  of  the   school  (Monday  February  28th,  2011).  The  payment  schedule  for  the  remainder  of  tuition  fees  ($2000)   needs  to  be  personally  negotiated  with  the  leadership  of  the  Deep  End  School.  Each  student  will  be   required  to  sign  a  personalised  contract  whereby  they  commit  to  honour  the  payment  of  their  fees as per their personal agreement  with  the  leadership  of  the  school.

We   have   deliberately   made   the   school   more   accessible   than   ever   before   by   changing   our   tuiton   payment   schedule.   In   previous   years   we   have   required   all   tuiton   fees   to   be   payable   before   commencement  of  the  school  and  students  were  unable  to  work  because  of  the  intensive  nature  of  the   previous  program.    However  we  are  now  making  it  possible  for  students  to  work  part  time  and  to  pay   their  fees  as  they  go,  subject  to  negotiation.

The  remainder  of  tuition  fees  ($2000)  must  be  paid  in  full  prior  to  the  graduation  date  in  order  to  qualify   students  to  be  graduated.  The  graduation  date  is  Thursday  the  1st  of  December,  2011.  We  require  all   students  to  pay  50%  of  outstanding  fees  ($1000)  by  Friday,  July  15th,  2011,  which  is  exactly  half   way   through  the  school.  The  final  $1000  must  be  paid  in  full  before  graduation.  No  student  will  be  graduated   without  full  payment  of  tuiton  fees.

Accommodation

If  your  application  to  attend  the  Deep  End  School  of  the  Supernatural  is  successful  you  will  be  living  in   Byron  Bay  for  most  of   2011.  There  are  two  possible  options  for  student  accommodation;
(A)   billeting   with  families  within  New  Earth  Tribe  or
(B)  renting  local  furnished  properties  with  other  students  for  the   duration  of  the  school.

All  students  are  personally  responsible  to  find  their  own  accommodation in or around  Byron  Bay (where  the  lectures  will  be  held).  But  we  will  do  whatever  we  can  to  point  you  in  the   right  direction.

Option  A:

We  are  encouraging  all  students  to  come  early  to  Byron  Bay  to  organise  their  own  accommodation.  We   will  provide  each  enrolled  student  with  the  name  and  details  of  other  enrolled  students  (of  the  same   sex)   so  they  can  organise  accommodation  with  one  another.  These  details will be released at the beginning of 2011.  In  the past we have made arrangements with  local  real  estate  agencies  for  students   to  rent  local  holiday  rental  apartments  for  the  duration  of  the  school.     Byron  Bay  is  a  big  holiday destination   and   there   are   hundreds   of   furnished   holiday   rental   properties   in   the   town.   The   busiest   months  for  holiday  rentals  are  the  summer  months;  December  to  February  inclusive.

Many  owners  of  holiday  accommodation  are  interested  in  finding  semi-permanent  renters  for  the  quiet   months  and  it  just  so  happens  that  the  duration  of  the  school  (March  to  November  inclusive)  falls  within   this  quieter  period.  Our  experience  in  the  past  has  been  that  it  has  not  been  difficult  to  find  apartments   during  the  quieter  period  because  it  is  more  profitable  for  holiday  accommodation  owners  to  have  semi- permanent   tenants   from   March   to   November   than   to   have   holiday   makers   renting   their   properties   on   an   occasional  basis.     If  you  are  interested  in  exploring  this  option  please  indicate  this  to  our  staff  if  your   application  to  attend  the  Deep  End  School  is  successful.  We  will  do  some  preliminary  work  by  contacting   real  estate  agents  to  let  them  know  how  many  students  may  be  interested  in  pursuing  this  option. We will not be mediating these negotiations but we will connect you with the real estate agents we have worked with in the past.  The  rest  will  be up  to  you.

Option  B:

We  are  also  currently  negotiating  with  families  and  households  within  New  Earth  Tribe  concerning  the   possibility   of   rooms   available   for   rent   within   our   local   community.   This   could   also   be   an   option   for   enrolled  students.     This  may  be  either  one  student  per  household  or  two  students  (of  the  same  sex)   sharing  a  room.  If  your  application  is  successful  please  let  us  know  if  this  option  interests  you.

Food

All  students  will  be  personally  responsible  for  their  own  food  requirements  during  the  duration  of  the   school.  Depending  on  which  option  for  accommodation  appeals  to  you,  you  will  either  be  paying  the   family  you  are  billeting  with  for  food  and  rent  or  you  will  be  living  in  a  group  house.  Our  suggestion  for   those  students  living  in  group  houses  is  to  pool  their  weekly  food  budget  together  as  it  always  goes   further  as  a  group.

How  Much  Should  Students  Budget  for  Accommodation  and  Food?
In  previous  years  we  provided  our  students  with  accommodation.  As  the  number  of   enrolments  has   grown  we  have  found  that  offering  this  service  is  no  longer  feasible.  But  in  our  experience  we  have   found  that  students  need  to  budget  from  $100  to  $120  per  week  for  accommodation  and  $70  per  week   for  food.

Those  students  who  are  planning  to  come  to  Byron  Bay  to  obtain  part  time  or  casual  employment  in   order   to   work   their   way   through   the    school    should   bear   in   mind   that   they   may   not   obtain   work   immediately  and  should  therefore  have  some  savings  in  reserve  to  keep  them  afloat  during  the  settling   in   period.   If   this   is   your   plan   we   strongly   recommend   you   come   at   least   a   month   before   the   commencement  of  the  school  in  order  to  get  settled  in  beforehand.

Renting  an  apartment  may  also  entail  an  up-front  bond  payment  which  is  usually  four  weeks  rent  which will  be refunded providing  the  apartment  is  not  damaged  and  returned  in  good  condition  at  the  end  of   the  lease.  This  bond  would  be  shared  between  however  many  students  share  an  apartment.    So,  if  there   were  four  students  in  an  apartment  and  the  rent  was  $480  per  week  the  bond  would  be  $1920  split  four   ways  between  four  people.  If  you  choose  this  option  for  accommodation  throughout  2011  then  bear  in   mind  all  possible  hidden  costs.    We  will  provide  more  detailed  information  in  your  letter  of  acceptance  if   your  application  is  successful.

Outreach  Expenses

Outreach  costs  are  separate  from  tuition  expenses  and  include  the  cost  of   outreaches  to  New  Age   festival.    Not  all  of  our  students  are  necessarily  suited  to  these  big  festival  outreaches  so  we  assess  each student  on  a  personal  basis.  If  we  don’t  think  certain  students  are  ready  for  these  events  we  encourage   them  not  to  come  and   to   participate   in  local   outreaches   instead.  There   are   four  big  festivals   that  we  take   teams  to;  Sydney  in  May,  Melbourne  and  Brisbane  in  June  and  Sydney  again  in  November.

Outreach costs   include   travel  expenses,  food  and  accommodation. We  recommend  students  budget  a minimum of $500 for Sydney, $600 for Melbourne and $300 for Brisbane.  If   your   passion   is   outreach   into   the   New   Age   community   there  could  be  opportunity  to  do  more  than  one  festival   outreach  but  bear  in  mind  that  the  more  outreaches  you participate  in  the  more  it  will  cost.

Other Expenses

In   August   each   year   New   Earth   Tribe   has   its   annual   family   camp/tribal   gathering.   This  event  will  be  compulsory   for   all   our   students   and   will   cost   approximately   $160.00.   There  will  also  be  a  number  of   conferences   conducted   by   New  Earth   Tribe  that   will  be   compulsory   for   our   students   to  attend.     These  conferences   usually   attract   a   registration fee  but  students  will  receive  free  admission  in  exchange  for  volunteer  duties  at  the  conference.

Graduation  Dinner

The  graduation  dinner  will  be  held  at  a  local  venue  on  December  the  1st,  2011.    Whilst  we  cover  the  cost   of  the  orientation  dinner  at  the  commencement  of  the  school  we  require  students  to  cover  the  cost  of   their  attendance  at  the  graduation  dinner.    This  will  be  approximately  $40  per  student.
